A period of windy conditions is expected overnight, with wind gusts reaching 40-50 mph on Friday as colder air begins to filter into the region. Winds will gradually begin to diminish later in the day.
Looking ahead to Saturday, our focus will shift to a slow-moving winter storm, which will begin to spread snow across parts of the Northeast by late Saturday evening. Snow is expected to impact portions of New England on Sunday.
As the system approaches, a layer of warm air aloft will cause the snow to transition into a mix and, potentially, rain along the coast. There is a potential for a significant ice event, and we will provide more details as we approach the event.
For areas in the Mid-Atlantic, including parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, precipitation is anticipated to remain predominantly in the form of rain. More updates will follow as the situation develops.
